In Greek myth the nine Muses are the goddesses of the arts and of learning. A mouseion was a place given to them.
The Mouseion of Alexandria was founded around 280 BC under Ptolemy I. It was a community of scholars who lived and worked together, with the Great Library attached.
We chose the name for what it stood for: a place where careful work is done and built to last.

We take a product from the first question to working software, and we stay with it after release. We treat design, building and maintenance as one job.
Engineering
We write, review and test the code, build the systems it runs on, and ship it. Tests and documentation are part of the work, not an extra.

Six working rules

Make it carefully
We give a piece of work the time it needs. We prefer a small thing finished to a large thing half done, and we ship in small parts, each complete on its own.

Build it to be kept
We write software to be read and changed for years: clear code, recorded decisions, documentation kept current. We plan for maintenance from the start, not after launch.

Plain tools
We prefer well-understood technology that will still be supported in years to come.

The people who design, build and maintain a product work on it together, from start to finish.

We tell you what we know, what we do not know yet, and what a piece of work will take.
